Managing EPC Contracts and Construction for Energy Projects

Development gets a project to notice-to-proceed; construction is where the money and the schedule risk concentrate. This course teaches owner's-side construction management for energy projects: the EPC contract, long-lead procurement, the controls that keep a build on plan, and the commissioning interface that turns a construction site into an operating asset. The course runs as guided self-study: narrated module videos, review questions after each module, a practitioner case study, and a final examination. 4.0 PMI PDUs (Ways of Working 2.5, Power Skills 1.0, Business Acumen 0.5), self-reported in CCRS. What you will learn: • How EPC, multi-contract, and owner's-engineer delivery models allocate risk, and how to choose the right one for a project. • How to build and protect a long-lead equipment procurement plan in a tightened global supply chain. • How to run schedule, cost, quality, and safety controls that catch problems early rather than at the final report. • How to manage change orders and claims through a disciplined, contemporaneous process that protects budget and schedule. • How to manage the construction-to-commissioning interface so testing does not stall behind an incomplete handoff. • How to govern an EPC program as the owner's project manager, from notice to proceed through closeout.
